Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about FloorSense flooring — our Escarpment Series SPC, ordering and pickup, installation, warranty and care.
About FloorSense
FloorSense is the in-house luxury vinyl flooring brand created by Adamson Flooring — a family-run flooring company based in Stoney Creek, Ontario since 1995. Adamson is the established business behind it: a full-service flooring supplier and installer with a local showroom and a 30-year track record.
FloorSense is our own product line, offered direct to you for pickup. Every FloorSense order — and its warranty — is backed by Adamson Flooring, the same local company that's been doing this for three decades. You're not buying from an anonymous online shop; you're buying from an established Stoney Creek company you can call or visit in person.
Because it's backed by one of the region's most established flooring companies. Since 1995, Adamson Flooring has supplied and installed flooring for tens of thousands of homes and projects across Southern Ontario — more than 50,000 orders and over 10 million square feet of floor in all.
Dozens of Southern Ontario's largest new-home builders rely on Adamson to floor the homes they build. FloorSense puts that same builder-grade product directly in your hands — backed by a 25-year residential warranty and a local team you can reach by phone or visit at our showroom.
SPC stands for Stone Plastic Composite — a rigid, waterproof core made from limestone and stabilizers. It's the most durable category of luxury vinyl: it won't swell, warp or hollow out the way laminate or softer "click vinyl" can.
That rigid core makes FloorSense 100% waterproof, dimensionally stable through temperature swings, and comfortable underfoot — ideal for kitchens, basements, bathrooms and busy family spaces.
Yes. The Escarpment Series is FloorScore® certified, an independent standard confirming the product meets strict limits for indoor air quality and volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions — so it's safe for homes, kids and pets.
Performance & Specs
6 mm total thickness — a 4.5 mm rigid SPC core plus an attached 1.5 mm EVA acoustic pad. 20-mil wear layer (one of the thickest in residential SPC). Planks are 7″ × 48″ with a Välinge 5Gi drop-lock click system and a Wood Embossed surface texture. FloorScore certified and rated for residential and light-commercial use.
Yes — the rigid SPC core is 100% waterproof, so spills, pet accidents, mopping and damp rooms won't damage the planks. Standing surface water won't hurt the floor.
Note that "waterproof" refers to the floor's surface, not the structure beneath it — FloorSense isn't a substitute for a subfloor moisture barrier or a fix for existing moisture problems. Full details are in the warranty.
It's built for exactly that. The 20-mil wear layer resists the scratches, scuffs and dents that come with dogs, kids and everyday traffic, and the waterproof core shrugs off spills and accidents. Wipe-clean and worry-free.
Yes — the Escarpment Series is compatible with hydronic (in-floor water) radiant heating. Keep the floor surface temperature at or below 27 °C (about 81 °F) and bring the heat up gradually after installation. Other heating systems aren't covered by the warranty.
No separate underlayment is needed — the attached 1.5 mm EVA pad is already bonded to every plank. It adds underfoot comfort and warmth and helps quiet the room — the floor carries an IIC sound rating of 73 — so you can click it straight down over a properly prepared subfloor.
Samples & Ordering
Five colourways — Kodiak, Coastal, Canvas, Cobblestone and Beachwood — ranging from warm natural oaks to cool greys. The best way to choose is to see them in your own light, so stop by the showroom or request samples.

Shipping & Pickup
At launch, FloorSense orders are pickup-only from our Stoney Creek showroom at 745 South Service Rd, Unit 1. This keeps your flooring protected and your costs down.
Local delivery is available for builder and installation projects — get in touch and we'll arrange it. Broader online delivery is coming after launch.
Most orders are ready within 2–4 business days. We'll email you as soon as your order is picked, staged and ready to collect — please wait for that confirmation before coming in.
Pickup hours are Monday–Friday 9 AM–6 PM and Saturday 10 AM–4 PM (closed Sunday). We'll hold your order at the showroom for 30 days from the ready date.
Yes. A friend, family member or contractor can collect on your behalf — just have them bring the order number and a piece of photo ID. Bringing a vehicle large enough for full boxes of flooring is a good idea.
Installation
Absolutely. The Välinge 5Gi drop-lock system clicks together as a floating floor — no glue or nails — which makes it one of the most DIY-friendly floors out there. Our step-by-step Installation Guide walks you through it.
Yes — Adamson Flooring has installed floors for three decades, and every Adamson-installed FloorSense floor is backed by a 5-year Installation Workmanship Warranty. Every install starts with a free on-site measure, so just request a quote / book your installation and we'll take it from there.
The subfloor must be clean, dry and flat within tolerance. FloorSense installs over most existing hard surfaces — concrete, plywood, tile and more. Let the flooring acclimate in the room for 48 hours before installing. Full prep details are in the Installation Guide.
Leave a 6–8 mm expansion gap at all walls and fixed objects so the floating floor can move with seasonal changes. Baseboards or quarter-round cover the gap. Rooms longer than 12 m or wider than 10 m also need a transition/expansion joint.
Warranty, Care & Returns
The Escarpment Series carries a 25-year residential and 10-year light-commercial limited warranty, with prorated material credit over the term. Floors installed by Adamson are also covered by a 5-year Installation Workmanship Warranty plus labour reimbursement in the first two years.
Read the summary and download the full policy on our warranty page.
Sweep or vacuum (hard-floor setting) to keep grit off the surface, and damp-mop with a pH-neutral floor cleaner. Avoid steam mops, wax, and abrasive pads. Use felt pads under furniture and entry mats at doors. Our Floor Care & Maintenance page has the complete routine.
You can return unopened, undamaged full boxes within 15 days of pickup for store credit — with no restocking fee. Please contact us before bringing anything back so we can set it up. Returns are accepted Monday–Friday, 9 AM–3 PM. Full details are on our Refund & Return Policy.
Yes — and exchanges are free within the same 15-day window. If a colour isn't right or you ordered too much, swap it for what works. Just reach out and we'll help you sort it out.
Always inspect your planks before installing. If you spot a manufacturing defect before installation, contact us right away — don't install it — and we'll make it right under warranty. Damage caused after pickup or during handling isn't returnable, but anything covered by the manufacturer's warranty is handled through our warranty process.
